What should I do if Accutane doesn't work for me?

Yoram Harth, MD
By Yoram Harth, MD | 2020-02-24

There are very rare cases in which Accutane does not “work”. It happens that there is a recurrence after one course of Accutane mainly in your patients. In this case is advisable to have another course. Another cause for Accutane treatment failure is that the dose and length of treatment were not right. Accuatne should not be stooped till there absolutely no acne activity for at least one month. Combining blue light Acne phototherapy and topical during Accutane treatment can also increases the chances for long term remission and reduce side effects. For best results Acne prevention routine should be continued after finishing the Accutane.
