Q&A

I'm breaking out when I try to gently stop using benzoyl peroxide. Does this mean my acne isn't gone yet or should I keep reducing?

Hi. You are absolutely right. Acne-prone skin lasts, on average, for 8 years. There is a need to keep using a mild acne treatment for the long term to prevent relapse. A low percentage of benzoyl peroxide is great for prevention. If your skin is generally clear, you can gradually reduce the number of weekly applications. In the first month, apply the BP gel every night. In the second month, every 2 nights, and in the third month, twice a week. If the skin is clear you can keep this twice-a-week application for the long term. In addition, stick to your daily cleansing routine and acne diet. Most importantly, track your skin with the MDacne app. 🙂
