gluten and acne

There is no scientific evidence that gluten causes acne. Having said, many food types that contain gluten, also contain high glycemic ingredients. High glycemic food, such as white bread cakes, cookies etc. are rapidly metabolized in our body causing a rapid rise in blood glucose levels a rapid rise in insulin levels. The increased blood insulin level was shown to be a factor that causes acne breakouts. Thus, in conclusion, gluten does not cause acne but many of the gluten-rich foods do.
