Can allergies cause acne?

Allergies do not cause acne. Having said that, there are a few compounds that when in contact with the skin that can make acne worse and some people are more sensitive to these compound than others. Examples include chlorine (used as a disinfect swimming pools and in some household cleaners) and fluoride in toothpaste.
