Q&A

Are facial cleansing brushes damaging to acne or beneficial?

Yoram Harth, MD

Hi, Sara. Although Clarisonic and similar brushes are heavily promoted, it still not clear if they help reduce acne. These brushes may be useful for makeup removal, but overuse may irritate the skin and make acne worse. Mild cleansing with your bare hands and a good anti-acne cream at night will do a better job. if you still want to use a cleansing brush do not use it more than 1-2 a week. 🙂
